eMedia Guitar Basics is the entry level Version of eMedia Guitar Method. It appeals to all beginners and offers 40 step-by-step lessons, teaching the skills and knowledge needed to start playing the world’s most popular instrument. Lessons include full-motion video of guitar instructor Kevin Garry, Ph.D. Lessons demonstrate guitar techniques ranging from stringing your guitar to strumming techniques and chords. eMedia Guitar Basics includes an animated fretboard, which displays the fingering for each song and exercise in real-time, and is adjustable in four viewing angles and includes three custom fingerboard skins so users can customize their lesson experience. Multi-track audio gives full band accompaniment on many of the songs. There is a MIDI track option allowing students to practice any song or exercise at whatever tempo they want. Along with this valuable instruction, an automatic tuner, metronome, recorder and a chord dictionary are included. If purchased separately, these add-ons alone would cost much more than the entire program, thus making it an incredible value.

Easy to understand and effective,
I’ve tried learning to play several times over the years by using beginner books or lame instructors but always gave up in frustration. I bought eMedia Guitar Basics because I wasn’t sure if it was my chosen learning methods or a lack of desire that made it so easy to quit before. I ordered the software and it arrived within a few days. I began immediately and I can honestly say that within the first few minutes I knew this was the right approach for me. The lessons are easy to follow and clearly layed out visually with additional video and audio clips provided. At first I thought the song selections were boring (and they are) but I quickly realized they were an effective way to teach chords and changes. After all, it is a BASICS package. The extras include a tuner, metronome, chord dictionary, recorder, animated fretboard and a short glossary of terms and all if these are a great help. This package is a perfect primer for anyone who may not be sure they want to play. Much easier to understand than a beginners book and much cheaper than an instructor. This will definitely get you started on the right path and at under $20 you can’t beat it. I’ve been at it for 2 weeks and am moving on to the next step in the eMedia series.
